Chin Siew Chin’s focus is on high-quality design with clear parti, good client rapport and of course, working with his team of elite designers and collaborators.
Chin graduated with honours from the University of Western Australia in 2001, with a Bachelor of Environmental Design and Architecture. He was also the recipient of the prestigious UWA Graduate Association Gold Medallion Award for Academic Excellence.
Foreseeing the available opportunities in his native Malaysia, Chin returned to Kuala Lumpur at the height of the city’s economic development to establish his career as an Architect. Chin’s enthusiasm and responsive character had garnered him a significant role in Garis Architects. Assigned to lead numerous large scale urban design and planning in Qingdao, China, multi-unit residential, commercial and public buildings in Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Bahrain, Chin quickly developed a solid foundation in the practice of architecture, running of large projects and leading a design team.
Chin joined the team at Kerry Hill Architects, the Singapore based award winning architectural practice, soon after the practice established its Fremantle office in 2006. Projects involved with Kerry Hill Architects include Western Australia’s State Theatre Centre, which won the 2011 Australian Institute of Architects Public Building Award and the Australian Institute of Architects National Award for Interior Architecture, luxury private residences and winning competition entry for the iconic, mixed use commercial and residential towers at 1 Alfred Street, Circular Quay in Sydney.
In 2007 Chin was registered as an Architect with the Architects Board of Western Australia and soon after established SCHIN Architects . Since 2010, Chin dedicated part of his time between running his practice and imparting his knowledge to the younger generation as a tutor in University of Western Australia and a mentor to interns and graduates.
